I remember being 26 years old and getting the opportunity to have a mentor come into my life that started to ask me questions that really got me thinking about life and how money/success/wealth were created.
I remember one of the first questions that was asked was ‘what book am I currently reading?’
To which I replied, ‘I don’t like to read.’
With a look in his eye, he said, ‘Brian, successful people read’
That comment changed my life. I have become a reader. That doesn’t mean that I love to read. As a matter of fact, I still struggle with making myself read, finding the time and actually spending that time reading instead of doing something else.
But i will say, it truly is one of the best things you can do in your life.
Many people ask me, what should I read?
So here is my list (not in order of importance):
1. Robert Kiyosaki’s Rich Dad Poor Dad. One of the all time best selling books. It’s an incredible story Robert tells about being raised with 2 fathers. One highly educated, one didn’t get past highschool. One career oriente, one spent his life as a small business owner. One left a legacy to his family when he passed, the other didn’t. Over the course of his he has had the opportunity to reflect back on the actions, thoughts and results of these two men in his life. The comparision between the two will open your eyes to thinking differently about your life.
2. Napoleon Hill Think and Grow Rich.
Again one of the all time best selling books. Napoleon Hill takes a lifetime of experiences working with some of the greatest minds that ever walked planet earth and combines his experiences and knowledge he learned from these great people. The principles he puts in the book are timeless and have changed the lives of millions of people around the world for decades.
3. John C Maxwell 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership
John Maxwell is a well known Christian author who has written many best selling books. This one in particular is a book that takes 21 Laws of life and explains them in a manner that is easy to understand and incorporates Christian beliefs. This book will stretch your mind and the two dimes in your pocket with definitely shift!
4. Brian Klemmer A View From The Zoo
Brian Klemmer built one of the most successful personal growth, self development companies on the planet. His understanding of the mind is impressive, but his interpretation is even more impressive. This book is a short read and a fun one. He gives you short story metaphors looking into the life of animals and relating them to deep rooted belief system in our lives. It’s cool how he does it and even cooler the lessons you get from them. Great read...do dogs like bones??
5. Dr Myron Wentz Invisable Maricles.
This is a must read for everyone. Dr Wentz is an Albert Einstein Award recipient for his contributions to the life sciences. This man has changed medical science on a global scale many times over. His understanding of the human cell and its function in the body is beyond comprehension for even modern science. He gives you an impressive understanding of why and how focusing on the human cell is the critical fork in the road debate as to why degenerative disease affects us the way it does today. Plus, add to the fact that one day your health will become your number one earthly concern and that time is not the time to be wishing you made better choices. It’s a must read for everyone for sure!!
Well there you have it. I have so many other books that could have made the list but didn’t. I’ll say, it’s mainly because these are the ones that made the most amount of impact in the shortest amount of time. Hey, I told you I didn’t like to read, so effectiveness and efficiency are on my top list of priorities. But after a few years of making it a priority and now with 100s of books under my belt...these are a great place to start if your needing a good change in life.
